You will report to the Court Manager and work as part of the Registry team playing a critical role in the successful operation of the High Court.

The Registrar is responsible for exercising quasi‐judicial and statutory functions to ensure efficient and effective service to the Judiciary and court users.

The Registrar is also responsible for developing the technical skills of staff in the High Court as well as the development, implementation and review of High Court legislation, policies, and procedures to ensure technical excellence in the High Court.

The role is based in the Wellington High Court, but there may be occasions where travel to the Wellington circuit may be required on an as‐needed basis.


Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience**- To be successful in the role, you will need to be:
  • Detail orientated and observant
  • Court has many different processes and case information needs to be accurate;
  • Self‐aware our customers are unique and diverse, and you will be confident working, both individually and as a team, across a range of situations;
  • Able to multi‐task some of our processes are repetitive, but you'll be able to manage conflicting priorities and move from one task to another quickly as the situation dictates;
  • Willing to learn & seek out information legislation and processes in the Court are always changing and you will need to be able to adapt and take onboard feedback and disseminate and train staff on updates to legislation as & when required;
  • Resilient there are times when working in the Court you will be working on high volumes of cases, the content of which may be sensitive in nature. You will need to demonstrate an awareness of your own wellbeing and resilience.
  • Experience of Registry and technical functions is highly desirable.

Utu ā-tau/Salary**The appointing salary for this role will be between $97,208 and $125,683 based on skills and experience.
