Credit Risk Specialist - Projects & Customer Risk

In the Credit Risk Management team, we are passionate about using data, analytics and our deep knowledge of the credit life-cycle to continually optimise credit strategies and transform lending experiences for our staff and for our customers.

The team ensures that our lending portfolios are managed within the bank's risk appetite, whilst supporting the business in the transformation and optimisation of process/systems & delivery to growth objectives.


About the Role:

Our Projects & Customer Credit Risk Specialist will be part of a high performing team who are embedded within ASB's key strategic projects, supporting the transformation of the bank's lending experiences and championing good credit outcomes for both the bank and our customers

This will include:

  • Driving strategic change across a wide range of project streams, including lending origination (current & futurestate), regulatory compliance and data.
  • Building & leveraging an understanding of lending origination and credit risk to provide robust challenge & guidance to projects.
  • Engaging with key business stakeholders to understand the demands and expectations on Credit Risk from strategic projects.
  • Working through ambiguity to enable projects to progress at pace.
At the heart of this role, you will be supporting the business with their strategic goals, building capability across the business, and ensuring credit risk is managed according to the requirements of ASB

About you:


We are looking for someone with an advanced knowledge of credit risk, who is passionate about transforming systems & processes to deliver industry leading experiences.


  • Ability to identify and articulate strategic opportunities leveraging data to provide insights.
  • Strong communication skills, especially the ability to engage at all levels of a large organisation.
  • Robust data management skills and experience with working with large, complex datasets.
  • Understanding of the credit risk cycle and Agile project delivery practices.
  • 4+ years of credit risk managements experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or above in a numerate field, business, IT, science, or related field preferred.
