We have an outstanding opportunity for two Paediatric ORL Fellow roles open for 2024 training positions.

This role aims to provide equitable and accessible care for all children and adolescents with ENT complaints across Auckland and New Zealand, utilising best evidence-based treatments.

These roles will not only assist in career progression but also enable you to participate in specialist research partnering with New Zealand's top University and provide substantive professional development support.

The department is actively involved in clinical research and audit including national and international collaborative projects and there are exciting opportunities in this area.

The primary purpose of the role is to provide clinical duties within the Paediatric ORL service at Starship Children's Health.

To develop experience in diagnosis and management of children with acute and chronic ENT conditions, either as primary problem, or as a consequence of disorders in others body systems.

Duties at an intermediate level of responsibility, as a sub-SMO grade (Consultant), but with responsibility for oversight of medical staff at Registrar grade and below.

The Otolaryngology Department at Starship Children's Health provides a national service, covering New Zealand and the South Pacific.

It is the only paediatric ORL service in NZ offering comprehensive tertiary medical and surgical management of the paediatric airway and head and neck disorders.

There is also a large workload of chronic ear disease with children receiving specialist treatment for ear and hearing disorders.

NgaPūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

To besuccessful in this role, you will require:

  • Postgraduate training in ORL and or equivalent experience and Basic medical degree qualifications recognised by NZ Medical Council.
  • At least four years of ORL surgical experience and /or equivalent experience in
another tertiary centre

  • Proven experience in paediatric airway management is essential for this role. The management of paediatric head and neck pathologies will be useful.
  • Prior endoscopy experience desirable
