The opportunity


Auckland Council's Communications department has an opportunity for a fixed term Specialist - Channel within their Brand and Channel team.


In this role, you will be tasked with the day-to-day operational management and optimisation of some of Auckland Council's most high-profile channels, including the OurAuckland digital channels.

This is the perfect position for someone who enjoys helping develop data-driven insights, then seeing them through to delivery.

Day-to-day you could expect to:

  • Work with a variety of stakeholders to deliver key pieces of communications like the quarterly Ratepayer's Update
  • Work with our research team to determine the OurAuckland channel awareness, preference, attributes, and effectiveness
  • Present channel updates to the department
  • Evaluate and review research data from our People's Panel and develop actionable insights
  • Keep the OurAuckland roadmaps uptodate
  • Support the delivery of OurAuckland owned channels optimisation initiatives

About you


You will love making sure that our channels are operating as effectively as they can - using data to drive your recommendations.

You might have a product management or research background, and you are equally comfortable being hands-on as you are developing data-driven insights.

Ideally you understand marketing and like the idea of working in a small team within a large department. You have proven experience at developing excellent working relationships, and a strong customer-first approach.

We will be looking for people who have:

  • Experience with interpreting research and channel data
  • Omnichannel 'productmanagement' based experience
  • A strong appreciation for marketing and associated disciplines
  • Experience developing and translating datadriven insights into actions and roadmaps
  • Experience in a complex organisation
In this role you will work in a small but extremely supportive team, and though a relatively autonomous role, you will work collaboratively with the wider communications team, various external and internal stakeholders, and content partners - so having the ability to build strong working relationships is key
