  • Job Description

The Role


We are seeking a motivated and innovative health professional to join our youth team in Wellington, providing counselling support for young people who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues and/or co-existing alcohol and drug related issues.


The main responsibilities of the role include providing assessment, treatment, education and counselling for the young people in our service.

This role will have a strong focus on client goals and outcomes with the aim to build resilience, improve their mental health, support their recovery and support harm reduction.

You will be working in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative team environment alongside youth navigators and clinical mental health practitioners.

In conjunction with the team and external stakeholders, you will be responsible for ensuring the service is providing client centred wrap-around care and is adaptive to the changing needs of the young people we support.

Monday to Friday (office hours)

  • A relevant counselling qualification (NZAC/DAPAANZ) (level 6 minimum or similar is required).
  • Full registration is required through NZAC or DAPAANZ.
  • Experience in training with alcohol and drug treatment is essential.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills (Verbal, written and computer literacy)
  • Experience with building and sustaining relationships (youth, staff and/or external agencies)
  • Effective time management skills and ability to prioritise
  • Full driver's License
