As an advanced clinician, you will be providing day-to-day clinical expertise and leadership support to the Occupational Therapy teams in close liaison with the Occupational Therapy Clinical Leaders, and Professional Clinical Leader for Occupational Therapy.

We are looking for someone who has advanced skills in Wheelchair and Seating, 24-hour postural management and experience working with adults in both inpatient and community settings.


You will be responsible for leading current best practice in wheelchair and seating/24 hour postural management, working alongside our Occupational Therapists to develop and maintain a high level of competency in this area.

We are looking for someone who has a passion for coaching and educating others and who strives for clinical excellence.

This role involves leading quality projects, developing and updating policies in the area of wheelchair and seating/postural management. You will also provide advanced wheelchair and seating assessment and intervention that focuses on patient/whānau centred goals.

An interdisciplinary team (IDT) approach forms part of the service's framework, so effective collaboration with the IDT and whānau, as well as the ability to communicate with local and national key stakeholders is vital.


Key skills and attributes:

  • New Zealand registered Occupational Therapist with a current annual practicing certificate
  • Six (6) years post graduate experience in an acute rehabilitation and/or community setting
with at least 3 years specialising in wheelchair and seating and 24 hour postural management

  • Proven clinical leadership within area of speciality
  • Experience in leading innovation and quality improvement, research and audit contribution
  • Highly organised and selfmotivated.
  • Working towards completion of relevant Masters degree or equivalent advanced practice
