Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

  • To provide general anaesthetic, local anaesthetic, and monitored sedation recovery to patients (adults and paediatric), and discharge to Second Stage Recovery day ward, or one of the main wards
  • To participate in PACU and Anaesthesia quality initiatives
  • To preceptor and mentor students where appropriate
  • The PACU RN will work closely within a large multidisciplinary team, forming working relationships with: operating theatre RNs and support staff, anaesthesiologists, anaesthetic technicians, surgical registrars and consultants, and many other allied health representatives.
  • Supporting change implementation is an important aspect of this role and the PACU RN will be expected to participate in auditing and other quality initiatives as part of postanaesthesia and/or anaesthesiaMō tō mātou rōpū
  • About our team


PACU at Wellington Hospital is a vibrant team of about 40 staff that work closely together in a fast-paced environment.

We organise social events throughout the year and like to keep in touch.
Moū - About you

  • PACU experience preferred
  • Surgical experience will be considered
  • Must be able to work as part of a team in a fastpaced environment
  • Able to make decisions quickly
  • NZ Resuscitation Council certification preferred
  • Able to potentially work with Covidpositive patients in the theatre/recovery environment
  • Must be able to do rostered and rotating 10hour shiftsE pā ana ki a tatou
