We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to be part of our exciting allied health team in the Interim Care Service (ICS) at Te Whatu Ora Waitematā.

This is a senior role, supporting service development and innovation in practise as we look towards growing this service and model of care over time.


The Interim Care Service is primarily for patients who have presented with acute injuries or conditions that require temporary admission to an ARC (Aged Residential Care) facility for a period of recovery and rehabilitation before then being discharged home.

This model of care enables patients to avoid an inpatient rehabilitation stay, supporting them to return to the community as soon as possible as well as supporting wider hospital access and flow.


You will work in conjunction with the ICS charge nurse manager and an inter-disciplinary allied health team, providing rehabilitation to patients, with primarily non-weight bearing injuries or conditions, for whom discharge to their own home is not appropriate in the short term.

You will work closely with the team to provide quality assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning within the ARC facilities which are located within our Te Whatu Ora Waitematā district.

Rehabilitation can be provided in a mixed model approach, varying from in-person sessions, group work, providing therapy programmes or working with patients and their family / whānau via telehealth (video or phone).


Our documentation and clinical systems are all fully electronic, technology such as a laptop and smart-phone are provided to support and promote efficient and mobile working and we can offer a flexible model of working eg.

working from home is an option at times.
