About the role

The Chief Sub-Editor is responsible for ensuring that the content of the NZ Listener is produced to the highest standards, both in the print edition and online.

As Aotearoa New Zealand's leading current affairs title, the Listener is a trusted source, publishing high-quality journalism, rigorously fact-checked.

Working closely with the Editor, the Chief Sub is part of the senior team accountable for the quality and accuracy of the published content, whether that's leading news-driven stories or the title's popular entertainment and listings information.

Duties include:

• Managing workflow to meet critical production deadlines
• Subediting and factchecking content for publication, liaising with writers to ensure the finalised copy is to the standard required
• Liaising and working closely with the Editor and Art Director to ensure deadlines are met
• Management of subeditors
